Re-visiting Greece

It has been 13 years since I was last in Athens, Greece.  The city has changed a lot, but so has the lenses through which I see the world. I was last in Athens when the city was full of excitement and construction as they prepared for Olympics- before their economic and refugee crisis. Every wall in the Plaka is covered in graffiti and every corner has begging refugees. It was nice to visit the Acropolis on a warm and sunny day versus my last visit which was cold and WINDY, but most of my day in the city just made me sad.

Santorini on the other hand was the perfect end to my summer of travel. The sunsets were beautiful, the food was delicious, and the water was crystal clear. Our Air BNB hostess recommended the perfect black sand beach that was busy without being too crowded.  I had breakfast two mornings at an adorable family owned cafe that served delicious Bougatsa that brought back a flood of memories of breakfasts during my semester at HUG (Harding University in Greece) and late night eats in Thessaloniki.
